Current toll-road overview

Czechia uses an electronic vignette (dalnicni znamka) for cars and any four-wheel vehicle up to 3,5 t on most motorways and expressways. The system has been fully digital since 2021: there are no physical stickers any more, and your licence plate is your vignette. Verification is done by ANPR cameras and random patrols. Most of the D-series network is tolled (D1 Prague-Brno-Ostrava, D5 to the German border, D8 to Dresden, D11 to Hradec Kralove, D35 Olomouc bypass, D52 to Austria, plus shorter sections) with a few free city bypasses excluded.

The 2026 update came in on 1 January. The 30-day and annual tariffs rose modestly with CPI while the 1-day and 10-day options stayed at last year’s level. Plug-in hybrids and CNG-biomethane vehicles continue to enjoy reduced tariffs; pure battery electric and hydrogen vehicles remain fully exempt, both for Czech and foreign plates, provided the exemption is registered online.

Prices are in Czech crowns (Kc). At an exchange rate of around 24 CZK per euro, the annual vignette is roughly €106 for a standard car. There is no separate weekly or monthly product beyond the 10-day and 30-day options.

Payment methods

The cleanest way to buy is the official portal eDalnice.cz (English UI, card or Apple/Google Pay). The vignette is linked to your licence plate and activated either immediately or on a chosen start date up to three months in advance. You receive an e-mail confirmation; no decal is needed on the windscreen. Other sales channels include Ceska posta (Czech Post branches), EuroOil/MOL/Shell petrol stations, and self-service kiosks at the major border crossings from Germany (D5 at Rozvadov, D8 at Petrovice), Austria (D52 at Mikulov), Poland (D11/D1 area) and Slovakia (D2 at Lanzhot).

For battery electric and hydrogen vehicles the exemption is also handled through edalnice.cz, on the separate exemption-notification page. Foreign-plated EVs must register before driving on a tolled section, otherwise the ANPR cameras will record the passage as unpaid.

For trucks above 3,5 t, the per-km MYTO CZ system runs through a GO! Box on-board unit (or the newer e-OBU). Foreign hauliers register at myto.gov.cz before crossing the border.

Foreign drivers

EU and EFTA driving licences are valid; non-EU drivers should carry an International Driving Permit. The vignette is the only road charge for a passenger car, and it is sold via the same edalnice.cz portal regardless of country of registration. The portal accepts EU and Iceland/Norway/UK plates without extra steps. Self-service kiosks at the border take cash and card and the e-vignette is issued instantly.

A common mistake is to buy the vignette only after entering Czechia: the ANPR cameras start checking right after the border, so it is safer to buy online a day before, or to stop at the first border kiosk before joining the motorway. If your trip is short, the 1-day option at 230 CZK is enough but in 2026 is only valid until midnight of the chosen day (eDalnice.cz). From 1 January 2027 the 1-day vignette is planned to switch to a full 24-hour validity from purchase, subject to Senate and Presidential approval of the Road Law amendment (bill in process October 2026, cebia.cz).

2027 prices: the amendment freezes vignette prices from 1 January 2027 at the 2026 level and removes the automatic CPI adjustment. If adopted: annual 2.570 CZK, 30-day 480 CZK, 10-day 300 CZK, 1-day 230 CZK remain unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

140?". Het antwoord eronder gebruikt set:html om dezelfde reden. De inhoud komt uit onze eigen content-collectie, niet van bezoekers. --> Do I need a vignette to drive on Czech motorways?
Yes, for cars and any four-wheel vehicle up to 3,5 t. The electronic vignette (elektronicka dalnicni znamka) is required for most of the D-series motorway and expressway network: D1, D2, D3, D5, D8, D10, D11, D35, D46, D52, D55, D56 and parts of others. A few city bypasses and unfinished sections are excluded from the toll. Motorbikes and tricycles do not need a vignette; they drive the motorways for free.
140?". Het antwoord eronder gebruikt set:html om dezelfde reden. De inhoud komt uit onze eigen content-collectie, niet van bezoekers. --> How much is the Czech e-vignette in 2026?
For a standard petrol or diesel car up to 3,5 t: 230 CZK for 1 day, 300 CZK for 10 days, 480 CZK for 30 days, 2.570 CZK for an annual vignette (about €106 at 24 CZK/EUR). Plug-in hybrids with CO2 below 50 g/km pay 50 / 70 / 120 / 640 CZK. CNG and biomethane vehicles pay 110 / 150 / 240 / 1.280 CZK. The 10-day and 1-day tariffs were not increased in 2026; the 30-day and annual prices rose modestly with CPI.
140?". Het antwoord eronder gebruikt set:html om dezelfde reden. De inhoud komt uit onze eigen content-collectie, niet van bezoekers. --> Are electric and hydrogen cars exempt?
Yes. Pure battery electric vehicles (BEV) and hydrogen (FCEV) up to 3,5 t are fully exempt from the vignette, including foreign-plated vehicles. You must register the exemption online at edalnice.cz before driving on a tolled motorway. Plug-in hybrids do not qualify for the exemption; from 1 March 2026 their CO2 status no longer triggers full exemption either, but they still pay the discounted plug-in hybrid tariff.
140?". Het antwoord eronder gebruikt set:html om dezelfde reden. De inhoud komt uit onze eigen content-collectie, niet van bezoekers. --> Where do I buy a Czech vignette?
Online at the official portal edalnice.cz (English available, pay by card or via Apple/Google Pay). Other sales points include branches of Ceska posta (Czech Post), EuroOil, MOL, Shell and other major petrol stations, and self-service kiosks at border crossings with Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia. The vignette is linked to your licence plate and cannot be transferred to another vehicle. You can pre-buy and select the start date up to three months in advance.
140?". Het antwoord eronder gebruikt set:html om dezelfde reden. De inhoud komt uit onze eigen content-collectie, niet van bezoekers. --> I am towing a trailer or caravan. Which vignette do I need?
Czechia is unusual: the weight category is based on the vehicle alone, not the combination. A car under 3,5 t pulling a trailer still only needs the standard car vignette; the trailer weight is not added. No separate trailer vignette exists. The same one vignette covers both. Bigger campervans and motorhomes that themselves exceed 3,5 t move to the MYTO CZ truck system instead.
140?". Het antwoord eronder gebruikt set:html om dezelfde reden. De inhoud komt uit onze eigen content-collectie, niet van bezoekers. --> How are trucks above 3,5 t charged?
Trucks above 3,5 t do not use the time-based vignette. They use the per-kilometre MYTO CZ system (myto.gov.cz). The price depends on number of axles, Euro emission class and the type of road (motorway versus 1st-class road). Buses get a reduced rate. The charge is registered through a GO! Box on-board unit or the new e-OBU service. Foreign hauliers can register and pre-pay online before entering Czechia.
140?". Het antwoord eronder gebruikt set:html om dezelfde reden. De inhoud komt uit onze eigen content-collectie, niet van bezoekers. --> Are there low-emission zones for cars in Czech cities?
For passenger cars, no general LEZ is in force in 2026. Prague operates restrictions on trucks above 3,5 t in inner districts, and tighter limits above 6 and 12 t in the central zone. Petrol and diesel cars, motorbikes and EVs are not affected. The Praha emission ban is on heavier categories and not a per-trip toll.
