Italy COVID-19 measures

The sections below indicate whether holidays, whether or not limited, are possible.

Holidays in Italy
Yes. All travelers from 6 years old must present a negative test certificate upon arrival in Italy. In addition, all travelers from 6 years old without a vaccination certificate will be quarantined for 5 days at the location that has been filled out on the Passenger Locator Form. After 5 days, a PCR or antigen test should be done. If this is negative, the quarantine may be ended. Children from 6 to 17 years old only have to quarantine if accompanying adults also have to.

Corona certificate required
At the border are samples with tests: if the result is positive, a 10-day quarantine applies at your own expense. Upon arrival in Sicily, all travelers must take a rapid test.

Requirements vaccination certificate
Valid from 14 to 270 days after second dose of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or first dose of Janssen. Please note: from 1 February 2022, valid for a maximum of 180 days within Italy. If your vaccination certificate is older, you can still enter Italy, but you no longer have access to accommodations, restaurants, ski lifts etc.

Requirements for proof of recovery
Valid up to 180 days after positive PCR test

Test proof requirements
Valid is a PCR test up to 48 hours old or antigen test of up to 24 hours old

Face mask
Mandatory in all public places inside and outside and on public transport and in ski lifts for everyone 6 years and older

In public transport, ski lifts and cultural places wearing an FFP2 mask is mandatory. Wear your mouth cap inside and outside when keeping 1 meters away is not possible

The online Passenger Locator Form is necessary for all travelers

A health certificate is required for air travel

Facilities

Shops
Open. In shopping centers in orange areas, a vaccination or recovery certificate (corona certificate) is necessary for everyone 12 years and older

Restaurants and cafes
Open. Vaccination or recovery certificate (corona certificate) for everyone aged 12 years and older. Please note: policies are very diverse. Please inquire prior to visit

Nightclubs and discotheques
Closed. At least until 31 January.

Accommodations
Open. Reservation required. Vaccination or recovery certificate necessary for everyone aged 12 years and older.

Museums, theaters and theme parks
Open. Only accessible with a vaccination or recovery certificate (corona certificate) for everyone aged 12 years and older. Open, vaccination or recovery certificate (corona certificate) necessary for everyone aged 12 years and older. A vaccination, recovery certificate or negative test is accepted in museums

Public transport
Available. Vaccination or recovery certificate necessary for everyone aged 12 years and older.

Skilifts
Open. Vaccination or recovery certificate necessary for everyone aged 12 years and older.
