Paying tolls with your debit card?

    In most countries around us there are (highways) where you have to pay tolls. There are different ways to pay that toll, think of cash, credit card and toll badges. But can you pay the toll everywhere with your debit card? In this article we tell you all about it!

    France

    Not all toll booths in France accept debit cards or cash. We recommend that you always have a credit card with you for payments.

    In Germany, passenger car tolls are generally not required, but there are some exceptions where they are.

    In Italy, you can usually pay at toll booths with a credit card, and often a debit card alsoworks. At manned toll booths, cash payment is possible. A convenient option is a toll badge, which allows you to pay toll charges automatically without stopping at toll booths.

    Netherlands

    The Netherlands has no toll roads, apart from some tunnels, where you can pay with your debit card.
