Norway Environmental zones
In Oslo and Bergen, measures can be taken to limit air pollution.
Oslo
- When a certain level of air pollution is reached in Oslo, the authorities can close the city center to all vehicles running on diesel.
- The restrictions will be announced at least 24 hours in advance via radio and television and are also posted on oslo.kommune.no/english.
- Exemptions (including vehicles for transporting the disabled) and more information can be found at oslo.kommune.no/english/street-transport-and-parking/diesel-vehicles-ban.
- In case of violation fines can be handed out.
- Oslo is expanding its car-free center.
Bergen
- When a certain level of air pollution is reached in Bergen, either the city toll can be increased up to a maximum of five times or on even days only vehicles with the last digit in the registration number are allowed to drive, and on odd days only vehicles with the last digit in the vehicle registration number. the registration number is an odd number.
- In case of violation fines can be handed out.
- Restrictions will be announced at least 24 hours in advance at bergen.kommune.no/hvaskjer/tema/luftkvalitet and bergen.kommune.no.
